Does compressing affect my PDF's quality?
At Low, no — we only strip metadata and optimize the file's structure, so your images stay exactly as they were. At Medium and High, we also detect each image's true on-page display size and re-encode it to your chosen DPI and JPEG quality, since most PDFs are dominated by images embedded far larger than they're ever shown. This is a real, visible-if-you-zoom-in trade-off in exchange for a much smaller file — keep a copy of the original if you need pixel-perfect images.
What's the difference between the Low, Medium, and High levels?
Low only strips metadata and optimizes structure — your images stay untouched. Medium recompresses images at a balanced quality; High uses a lower quality and gets you the smallest possible file. DPI and grayscale (under Advanced) apply at Medium and High.
Will compressing remove my PDF's password protection?
Yes, if your PDF is password-protected, compressing it rebuilds the file and removes that protection. Save a copy of the original if you need to keep it protected.
