Frequently Asked Questions
Is it free?
Yes. No signup required.
Is my file safe?
Yes — your PDF is processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded to our servers.
Does it preserve images, tables, and formatting?
No. This converter extracts the text from your PDF into plain Markdown. Images, tables, and complex layout aren't carried over — it works best on text-based PDFs. That's the trade-off of doing it entirely in your browser; server-based converters can preserve more layout but require uploading your file.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Not well. Scanned PDFs store pictures of text, not real text, so there's little to extract. Run an OCR tool first to turn scanned pages into searchable text, then convert.
Does it detect headings?
Yes — lines that use a noticeably larger font than the surrounding body text are converted to Markdown headings (#, ##, or ###). This is a best-effort heuristic based on font size, so some headings may be missed or misclassified in unusual layouts.
Are Markdown symbols like # or * escaped?
No. Characters that have special meaning in Markdown (such as #, *, or _) are output as-is from your PDF's text, so they may affect how the file renders in a Markdown viewer.
What format is the output?
A single, plain-text .md file that opens in any text editor or Markdown renderer.
Max file size?
100 MB.
