What counts as a background?
Any image or color fill that covers essentially the whole page — 95% or more of it. Those are the two ways PDF backgrounds are actually built: a full-page picture, or a full-page colored rectangle.
What can't it remove?
Backgrounds baked into a scan or photo (the page is the picture — removing it would erase everything), watermarks drawn as text, repeated small logos, and anything covering under about 95% of the page.
Will it damage my PDF?
No. Only the page-covering drawing operations are removed — text, vector art, and other images are left untouched, and pages and metadata stay as they were.
What if nothing was removed?
Then no image or fill covered 95%+ of any page — your background is likely baked into the content itself (common with scans and some design tools). The download is still your original structure, unchanged pages included.
What happens to passwords and digital signatures?
